Flock Freight continues to prove that shippers don’t have to choose between lower costs, great service, and environmental sustainability when selecting a transportation partner. With Flock Freight's Shared Truckload service, shippers can cut emissions by up to 40% compared to traditional shipping modes, all while lowering costs by an average of 20%.

We chose to become an accredited partner of Smart Freight Centre (SFC) to align our emissions reporting with a global standard that leading enterprise shippers across the globe have adopted.

Our transportation emissions measurement and reporting for all modes, including Shared Truckload, is now accredited by Smart Freight Centre, aligning with the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework, ISO14083, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

Here are 7 questions and answers about our new accreditation.

1. What does it mean to be an accredited partner of Smart Freight Centre?

As an accredited partner of SFC, Flock has proven that our emissions reporting across all transportation modes conforms with global industry standards including ISO14083, GLEC, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. To achieve this accreditation, Flock worked with Smart Freight Centre to adjust our emissions methodology and reporting format to become compliant.

2. Why did Flock decide to work with Smart Freight Centre?

Flock is transforming the freight industry by delivering Shared Truckload at scale, which unlocks value for shippers, carriers, and our planet. We recognize the importance of measuring our impact, and our accreditation by Smart Freight Centre ensures our impact on the planet is measured using a global standard. Ultimately, this makes sustainability reporting easier for our shippers and more standardized for Flock. Standardized emissions measurement and reporting allows logistics companies to gauge their environmental impact across a uniform benchmark. The GLEC framework, under SFC, unlocks a common language for emissions accounting that carriers, logistics companies, and shippers can all use to communicate.

3. What does this mean for Flock shippers?

Flock’s Shared Truckload shippers are automatically eligible to receive quarterly emissions reporting to help with their scope 3 emissions reporting goals. If you currently ship with Flock, direct any questions to your account team or email sustainability@flockfreight.com. 4. Which fulfillment modes are covered by this accreditation?

Emissions for all Flock shipments will be measured and reported using our accredited methodology. This includes Shared Truckload.

5. How does Shared Truckload compare to traditional modes?

Shared Truckload avoids about 29% of emissions compared to LTL and 37% compared to underutilized TL. These numbers are calculated by comparing emissions intensities across the three modes, which are part of our Smart Freight Centre accreditation. You can read more about this in our technical document

6. Why did Flock create emissions intensity values for Shared Truckload and underutilized truckload?

At Flock, we are tackling a decades-old industry challenge: waste in freight transportation. As pioneers in Shared Truckload (STL) services at scale, we are also the first to establish a GLEC-compliant emissions intensity value for STL. Recognizing the significant underutilization in the Full Truckload (FTL) system, we developed an emissions intensity value specifically for underutilized TL to accurately measure its environmental impact. Both values have been accredited by Smart Freight Centre, meeting compliance standards for GLEC, ISO14083, and the GHG Protocol.
